Sztuka około roku 1400. Konferencja w Mariborze/Art and Architecture around 1400. Colloquium in Slovenia

Pomiędzy 10 a 14 maja, Uniwersytet w Mariborze będzie gospodarzem międzynarodowej konferencji “Art and Architecture around 1400: Global and Regional Perspectives” organizowanej przez International Committee of the History of Art (CIHA). W obradach podzielonych na kilka bloków tematycznych (mn. "Migracje artystów i/lub wzorów artystycznych" czy "Patronat prywatny i zbiorowy; reprezentacja, naśladownictwo i praktyki dewocyjne") weźmie udział ponad 50 naukowców, którzy w swoich referatach spróbują przybliżyć zagadnień związanych ze sztuką i kulturą regionów "peryferyjnych" około roku 1400.

Polskę będzie reprezentował Mateusz Grzęda z Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, który wygłosi referat pt. "Narodziny portretu w Polsce? Oblicze króla Władysława Jagiełły na jego nagrobku w Katedrze Wawelskiej". Dla czego tylko jeden polski historyk sztuki będzie obecny, podczas gdy, dla porównania z Czech będzie ośmiu, z Węgier dwunastu, z Chorwacji pięciu, ponadto będą naukowcy z Finlandii, Włoch, Niemiec a nawet z Australii, trudno zrozumieć...

From May 10 to 14, 2011, the University of Maribor in Slovenia will host a colloquium entitled, “Art and Architecture around 1400: Global and Regional Perspectives”. The event, organized by the International Committee of the History of Art (CIHA), will bring together over fifty scholars who will present papers on issues such as “Private and Collective Patronage; Representation, Imitation, and Devotional Practices” or “Migration of Artists and/or Artistic Models” in an attempt to highlight the cultural vitality of “peripheral regions” around 1400.

Poland will be represented by Mateusz Grzeda (Jagiellonian University, Cracow) who will address the question: “The Birth of Portraiture in Poland? The Face of King Ladislas II Jagiello on his Tomb in Cracow”. Why only one scholar from Poland will be present – compared the Czech Republic (8), Hungary (12) or Croatia (5), Finland and Australia – is difficult to comprehend…
